Transitioning to Distance Learning
We have been inspired by many of the changes our school communities are making in response to COVID-19. If your school is currently providing or considering distance learning, below are resources and strategies around:
- Communicating with Parents
- Shifting to Learning at Home
- Sharing What You’ve Learned with Other Schools
- Upcoming Webinars
We want you to know you have our commitment to continue to support you as you work to make quality Montessori education available to children around the world.
Communicating with Parents
Tutorials and resources for school staff:
- Check out our new Conference Report Template: [Admin] > [Design Conference Reports] > [Copy a Template from our Library] > select “Transparent Classroom Sample: Distance Learning Record”
- Share instructions and PDFs in “School Info” on the [Home] page
- Share videos in [School Info] or directly in lesson descriptions
- Questions? Schedule a one-on-one training and our team will be happy to walk you through all the options.
Shifting to Learning at Home
Here are some publicly available resources you can offer your parent communities:
- Routines at Home: Creating Hope in Challenging Times by Margaret Kelley for the Forest Bluff School Blog
- Learning From Home: A Montessori Handbook courtesy of Nido Marketing and Montessori School of Tokyo
- Checkout Mika’s Day, where our founder’s son talks about how he uses his “Kanban board” to plan at home with help from his teacher and parents.
Facebook Support Groups by Level
To help support families doing Montessori at home, Trillium Montessori has organized Facebook support groups by level and offers additional resources on their website.

Let Us Know What’s Working!
If you are doing something cool, let us know and we will share it with other schools here, in an ongoing document of resources and strategies. Feel free to bookmark that page, as we’ll be adding it to it regularly with your suggestions!
Many of these resources have been graciously shared with us by you and other schools. We are in awe and gratitude for the way this community has come together. Stay tuned for another update soon and stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Lightsmith & the Transparent Classroom Team
