Collecting an Application Fee

You can choose to collect an application fee along with your Transparent Classroom Application by creating a "payment button" with your company of choice. We use PayPal, but you can use any company.

To start you will need to create a new Article in your School Info called "Application Complete". The title has to be exact so Transparent Classroom can redirect completed applications to this payment button. To set this up:

  1. Go to [Home] > click [Add] beneath "School Info"
  2. Name your new article "Application Complete" (case sensitive) and choose "Create an article for parents and staff" > click [Create]
  3. Copy and Paste the "Payment Button" code from PayPal, Dwolla, etc. into the Body of the Page > click [Save]

We recommend creating a test application to check for any bugs or hitches before sharing this functionality with parents.

A note on PayPal button code:

There have been some new updates to PayPal and their payment button codes. In order to make sure that you have the correct button code, follow the directions below:

Go to https://www.paypal.com/buttons/, or run a Google search for "paypal buttons".

Once there, make sure that you select the [Buy Now] button option (don't use either of the two "New Feature" options).

On the next screen, add an "item name" (this is not the same as what the button will say, but can be visible to the payee, so something like "Application Fee" is probably best). Set your price in the box and then click [Customize text or appearance].

Once the button looks the way you want, click [Create Button].

This will give you a page with the embed code. Follow the instructions on that page to select and copy the code. Then follow our instructions above to paste into your [Application Complete] page in Transparent Classroom.
