Note: Adding parents invites them! If you are not ready to invite parents to Transparent Classroom, hold off on adding them to the system for now.
In this article, we provide resources and step-by-step instructions for these steps:
- Sending an introductory email like this to your parent community
- Adding/Inviting parents to Transparent Classroom
- Hosting parent education night to offer a framework for what parents can expect from TC
Adding/Inviting Parents
You can invite parents individually or all at once with a spreadsheet using the instructions below, or check out this brief video tutorial:
To invite parents individually, go to:
Child Profile Page > in the "Info" section, next to "Parents", click [Add] > Select [This is a new parent]
Enter Parent Information > click [Create and Send Invitation]
Parents will receive an email inviting them to log on to Transparent Classroom, create their profile, and see their child’s page. They will be able to keep their contact information up-to-date and see as much of their child’s information as you’ve decided to share with them.
If you're an Admin User, you can import parent information from a spreadsheet by going to:
[Directory] > [Parents] > [Import] > follow the instructions on importing a CSV
Feel free to reach out to us by email if you have any questions about that process!
Setting Expectations
Some schools that work with us opt to host a parent education night where they introduce Transparent Classroom and tell parents what to expect.
If you choose to have parents see all the lessons and entries on Transparent Classroom, it may be useful to talk to them about the sequencing and age-appropriateness of the lessons and why they’re given when they are. For example, we have found it useful to talk to parents about indirect preparations in Practical Life and Sensorial activities that set the child up to be successful in the Math activities.
We have also found sequence charts like the one pictured below helpful in illustrating the flow of Montessori lessons for parents.
