Applications: Overview

You can use Transparent Classroom to create and manage digital applications for your school. This article will go over how you can:

  • Edit Existing Application Form
  • Share an Application Form with Prospective Families
  • Collect the Application Fee

Check out this brief tutorial video or read on for more details:

Editing Your Application Form

The first step is to edit the existing application form template to match your school's needs. You can do this by going to [Admin] > [Applications] > [Edit Form].

To modify the default template you can click on the existing fields to make changes or remove them, or you can drag and drop fields from the editor on the left directly onto your template.

If you'd like to add your school logo to your Application, check out this article: How do I add my logo to a form?

Sharing Your Application Form

Once your application is created, you can embed your application form in your website so that parents can fill it out online. This way, any data captured in the form will automatically be available should you decide to accept the child into your school. To do this, go to:

[Admin] > [Applications] > [Share] > [Embed] > Copy the code into your website.

To preview what your Application will look like or share it by email, instead choose "E-mail" and then follow the link you see there.

Collecting an Application Fee

You can also collect an application fee through your website by creating a "payment button" with your company of choice. We use PayPal, but you can use any company. Next, create a page called Application Complete. The word has to be exact here, so Transparent Classroom can redirect completed applications to this payment button. To set this up, go to:

[Home] > "School Info" > [Add] > Name the Page "Application Complete" (case sensitive) > under "Type", choose [Create an article for parents or staff (e.g. Snack Policy)] > [Create] > Copy and Paste the "Payment Button" code from PayPal, Dwolla, etc. into the body of the page > [Save]

I recommend creating a test application to check for any bugs or hitches before sharing this functionality with parents.
