Sharing Conference Reports with Parents

Once you've designed a conference report template and created a draft for a specific child, it's simple to share conference reports with parents. In this article, you'll learn about:

Printing a Single Conference Report

Once an individual report draft is ready to be shared with that child's parent, you can print this page by typing Command-P (Mac) or Control-P (PC), or selecting the "Print" option from your browser's file menu.

The reports will print out without the need for additional formatting and are usually pretty concise. You may need to go into your browser's print system dialogue box and un-check the box marked "Show Headers and Footers".

You can also use the print dialogue page to save the conference report as a PDF. This photo is shown using Google's Chrome browser, which has a very simple print dialogue process.

If you like, you can print reports for a whole classroom by going to [Children] > [Conference Reports]. If you're an Admin, you'll just need to select the classroom from the drop-down menu in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. You can even select "All Classrooms" to print reports for the whole school.

From here, you can filter by the type of template used to generate the report and the date range that the report was generated. Next, you can check the small square box to select all the conference reports > [Print].

Caution: You do want to print your conference reports one sided. If you do not, the first page of one child's report may end up on the back of the last page of another child's report!

Sharing Reports Electronically With Parents

If you choose to invite parents to Transparent Classroom, you can share reports with them electronically with a single click. From a child's individual report, you can click "Publish" to give that child's parents access to the report, or from the main conference reports page, you can click "Publish All" to share reports for the whole class or the school.

Keep in mind that once you click "Publish", parents will receive an email notification containing a link to their child's reports. Not to worry, if you do need to, you can "Un-Publish" a report, but there is no way to un-send the notification email, so be sure to double-check that the reports are ready to share before you do publish them. Also, an Admin can customize that notification email by going to [Admin] > [Notifications].

If you do choose to share reports with parents electronically, they will be able to click on the lesson names to view a description of what the lesson is, why we do it, and how to help or support independence at home.
