The By Day lesson plan allows you to plan for any day, any week, and for a single child or multiple children at once. This page allows you to do detailed planning and record keeping all in one place. Using this article, you can learn to:

  • Add a lesson
  • Plan a lesson for this week
  • Plan a lesson for a different week
  • Record progress
  • Plan a follow-up
  • Remove a lesson

Read on for details or watch this brief tutorial video:

Add a lesson

The "?" column automatically populates with all the lessons you've planned anywhere in Transparent Classroom, including the Progress and Plan page, the student's Progress page, and the student's Standards page.

You can add a lesson directly on this page by clicking "Add lesson" at the bottom of any column, type the lesson name, finally add a single student or multiple students.

Tip: hold down the command/control key when clicking on student names to speed things up.

Plan a lesson for this week

Click and drag a lesson from the "?" column to plan it for a specific day this week.

Plan a lesson for another week

Click the pencil icon in the corner of a lesson to select a planning date for any week. Lessons added to the "?" column will stay there week to week until they are planned for a specific date.

Tip: If you didn't get to some planned lessons in a previous week, you will automatically be offered the opportunity to move them all at once at the start of a new week. You can choose to plan the lessons for the same days next week, move back to the "?" column, or to leave them planned on the previous week.

Tip: Once you've planned your lessons, type Command-P (Mac) or Control-P (PC) to print your plan.

Record progress

After you've given your lessons, come back to the By Day lesson plan to record progress with lessons and standards for your students.

Click the checkbox next to the lesson name to record a unique level of progress for each student and record progress with any associated standards simply by clicking. You can also click "Add an observation" to type in a narrative comment that will be saved with the student's progress.

Once you've selected the appropriate level of progress for the lesson and any associated standards, click [Save] or [Save and Plan] to plan a follow-up or to plan the next lesson in the sequence.

Plan a follow-up

Planning a follow-up will replan the same lesson with the same group of students one week from the day you record the lesson. Before you add this lesson to your plan, you can change the date, the group of students, and add an internal note for yourself. Click [Save] and the lesson will be planned on your selected date with the purple "Followup" tag.

Remove a lesson

Sometimes we plan a lesson by mistake or later find out it is not yet appropriate. To un-plan a lesson, click the pencil icon on the planned lesson and click [Un-plan] and then click [Confirm].
